Glossary of Terms

The following college terminologies will help you better understand the components of dual credit:

Dual Credit – the ability to earn high school credit for successful completion of a college course that covers all the TEKS of a specified high school course.

Early Admission Enrollment – high school student is enrolled in and taking one or more courses at a college; also known as concurrent enrollment.

Early College – *EWCHEC Taylor is the designated site for Legacy Early College High School where students can qualify to take college-level course work as early as their 9th grade year.

Texas Bioscience Institute (TBI)
Texas Bioscience Institute (TBI) prospective students should check with the TBI Middle College Coordinator for specific program requirements relating to dual credit courses offered at the Texas Bioscience Institute. For more information on this program, go to www.texasbioscienceinstitute.com.

Legacy Early College High School
Legacy Early College High School (LECHS) is located at the Temple College – *EWCHEC Taylor location. We currently have Hutto ISD and Taylor ISD students participating in the program. Only rising eighth grade students from Taylor ISD can apply for enrollment to LECHS. Enrolled students should check with the LECHS counselor or principal for specific requirements relating to dual credit courses offered at the Legacy Early College High School.
